At RIS, we involve our heroes in a wide array of activities so as to inculcate the importance of GO GREEN. A drawing competition was held at RIS where Grade 1 students were given an opportunity to present their vision of what an environment friendly world looks like. This competition was held to promote environment awareness among the children. The top three master pieces were selected from each grade and the small artists were felicitated.

The teachers along with the students actively participated in the GO GREEN drive. The senior management along with the teachers who are the first line of defense in the environmental movement expressed their thoughts on GO GREEN.

SAY IT WITH WORDS

It has been a priority in RIS to create awareness among the children and to encourage them to work and contribute towards a clean and green environment. The best gift for a young and curious mind is an opportunity to explore and learn more. The students of grade 3, 4 and 5 had shared their thoughts on go green by a write up on the same. They had also written their messages on leaves which were displayed on the PLEDGE TREE.

PRESIDENT OF GREEN GANG

Neelanjana Suresh of Grade 5 has been selected as the President of the Green Gang. She officially took up her responsibility as the President in the month of June. Her speech on the World Environment Day was well appreciated by her fellow students and teachers. She takes an active role in promoting the Green Spirit in the students and staff in RIS.

EMIRATES ENVIRONMENTAL GROUP 11/11/11 INITIATIVE

(PAPER COLLECTION DRIVE)

RIS joined hands with EEG in the 11/11/11 Initiative. A massive paper collection drive was campaigned in school. The EEG had set a target of 1000 kg from institutions. The campaign saw active participation of students right from Kindergarten upto Grade 5.

The whole school’s paper collection was compiled and was taken  to the EEG office in Jumeirah. We were glad to hear that our school’s contribution was a whopping 1560 kg. Since we crossed the 1000 kg target set by EEG, we were qualified to participate in the tree planting ceremony on the 11th of November, 2011.          

RAGS TO RAMP

RAGS TO RAMP fancy dress competition for  KG 2 was held on 12th June in the school auditorium. The theme was GO GREEN and the children were asked to dress with waste materials. It was a visual treat. The little ones were dressed in innovative costumes made from different kinds of waste materials. The best three were selected from each class and the little ones were felicitated. Parents creativity blended with child’s confidence made the show a success.

BEST OUT OF WASTE EXHIBITION

Nothing in nature is exhausted in its first use. When a thing has served to its utmost, it is wholly new for an ulterior service. Every end is then converted into new means.”

From caterpillars to table mats, dolls to train, pots to bus, honey bees to tortoise our students showcased it all on the best out of waste exhibition held on 5th June. They showed that the future is indeed green and it will remain so if we work towards protecting our planet.

ENVIRONMENT DAY ASSEMBLY

 As a part of the World Environment Day celebrations, Rajagiri International School celebrated the Environment Day on 5th June, 2011.Children as well as teachers came dressed in green coloured clothes. It was a pleasure to see the little earth warriors dressed in green, don their headbands and participate in the environment day parade singing the special song “Keep the Earth green”. A special assembly was staged by the kindergarten children.

This was the theme around which a small skit was woven. The students gave a strong message to all that we should care for our environment and all the things that are part of it.

RECYCLED PAPER AT RIS

The students of Grade 5 have successfully made first recycle paper at school with the help of teachers.

EEG “ART FROM WASTE” EXHIBITION

‘Knowing is not enough, we must apply; willing is not enough, we must do’

Rajagiri International school participated in the ‘Art from Waste’ Exhibition organized by Emirates Environmental Group for the prize giving ceremony. Major General Mohammed Ahmed Al Marri, Director of General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners’ Affairs-Dubai and Dr. Mohammed Saeed Al Kindi, Former Minister of Environment and Water inaugurated the ceremony. It was a great platform to exhibit the excellent items made out of waste by our students for the EEG Prize giving ceremony. Ms Habiba Al Marashi, EEG chairman spoke to the students and gave them an insight about the environmental situation and the need of protecting it.  RIS received a participation certificate which was handed by Habiba Al Marashi, EEG chairman

REUSE, REDUCE & RECYCLE BY RONALD McDONALD

Marking the occasion of the World Environment Day, Rajagiri International School hosted a variety of events to encourage children and parents to come together in supporting the cause of sustaining a greener future.

One of the highlight of the events was the show by Outside agency Ronald McDonald. An informative session about Reducing, Reusing and Recycling was imparted to the children through games, music and various activities.
